We have some large and expensive projects coming up here at the Lake and River…. Dredging / Road Repair / Emergency Exits, just to name a few. To assure that projects of this magnitude are planned for and managed they should be tracked via Project Management.
Project Management consists of documentation that identifies all the steps in order to achieve the completed goal. Within those steps, dates of start and dates of completion and projected costs are identified. … These estimated dates and costs may change during the duration of the project so the document is somewhat of a living document until the project is completed.
The project management document should be shared with all the stakeholders (property owners) so all will have the knowledge of timeframes and costs with nothing to hide…= transparency. With the tremendous cost of some of these projects we cannot afford to run it by the seat of our pants.
It needs to be tracked and monitored intensively. I am a CPM (Certified Project Manager) and will bring this skill to the board.
