First Choice Homes currently has approximately 78 empty lots that they own. Due to the Terms and Conditions of our contract with them, they may or may not have to pay dues on these lots, but they do get to vote in our election on these 78 lots. Now, First Choice Homes does not live here and could care less who they vote for. They are here for profit only. ….. But the question is who are they going to vote for?
I am going to make a very educated guess here that they will be influenced by someone they have a relationship with on the current Board of Directors. Could these 78 votes go to incumbent candidates or other favorites due to the influence of a Board member? I believe that is a very good bet.
Ken Harvey Homes currently has approximately 50 empty lots that they pay dues on and will get another 50 votes …. The Same situation as First Choice? Probably.
So we are talking about a total of 128 votes right off the top that will go to some group of candidates.
In last year’s election, there were around a total of about 1000 votes cast. If this holds true again this year, these 2 builders will have over 10% of the total votes cast…… Some of the races last year were won by far less than 50 votes. This situation probably has occurred in previous elections also, but my main concern is this and future elections.
As a candidate, I am very concerned that this election will be skewed due to these builder votes ….. All of my fellow non-incumbent candidates should also be very concerned.
All property owners (and especially non-incumbent candidates ) should be contacting the President of the Board and the General Manager and insist that these votes be voided.
Property owners who live here and care about what happens to our neighborhood should be picking our leaders, not a builder in here just looking to make a profit..
This is just another example of how our current board operates. It will be up to you the voters that will decide if you want that to change.
